Erin's 50 in '15 || Final Update

January 14, 2016

Hello, i'm back! Long time no blog! Oops. For that i can only apologise. Anyway, new year new me and all that.
So that's it, 2015 is over! At the start of the year I decided I would try to read 50 books. Unfortunately I was unable to achieve that. However, I managed to read 30 books and I am pretty pleased with myself! You can catch my previous update here. I thought I would do the last update of 2015 now! Instead of setting myself another goal, i'm just going to keep reading as I was this year. My book reviews have been pretty popular, so I think i'm going to continue to post reviews in 2016.
So lets get on it!

'The Woman Who Went To Bed For A Year' by Sue Townsend was the first book I read this time round and i'm afraid to say that I was very disappointed. I found that it didn't really have a plot to it, and I really struggled to finish it! It was really boring, and sadly not for me.

'Dark Places' by Gillian Flynn was another book I read. It was, interesting to say the least. After reading 'Gone Girl', I was eager to read more of her books. This is a 'who done it' style book, and it revolves around a girl trying to find out who killed her family many years ago. It was very weird, and original. I actually quite liked it, although it took a bit of time to get into. However, I guessed the murderer long before the end so I wasn't really kept guessing, which is what I look for in a book. Overall though, it was a solid read.

I then decided to re-read a book I read a few years ago, as the film was coming out. It is 'Paper Towns' by John Green. I really like this book. Because I was re-reading it I managed to whizz through it, and I loved it just as much as I did the first time. It's my second favourite John Green book (after Looking For Alaska), a great read, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy read.

I then decided to read a series, after seeing one of my good friends read it earlier on in the year. It's 'The Selection' Series by Kiera Cass. I wasn't expecting much from them, as I thought they were just a typical book about royals, but oh my God. I was hooked on them! They were so gripping, and I read all four of them within a week. They are basically about a competition that the royals run to see who will be the Prince's wife. Sounds rotten, but it was so much more than what it seems! I don't want to ruin anything because it needs to be read to be believed, but if you're looking for a new series to get obsessed with, then look no further than these! They reminded me a bit of The Hunger Games, but I actually think I might prefer them!

'The Book Thief' by Markus Zusak was another book I read. I have to admit, I really struggled with this. It's had so many amazing reviews, and I just wanted to be obsessed with it, like so many others were. However, I wasn't. It wasn't bad, it was far from it, it just dragged a little bit, and it took me ages to finish, because I could not get into it. It was very emotional, and I did cry, and it was very well written, it just wasn't really for me unfortunately.
