Diary Entries || 2008-2013
November 19, 2013This is a secret that not many people know about me.. until now.
I have a confession.
I have a diary (well, several diaries), and I have kept one since I was 12. I am now 17. Every night, before I sleep, I write at least a page in an A5 notebook, about my day, my feelings, and just my general thoughts.
I know what you're probably thinking.
"Wow, that's so childish, you're almost 18 and you still keep a diary. Haha. Pathetic!"
It is for this reason that I don't tell people I keep one, because this will be their reaction.
I don't think it's childish at all. I actually really like writing it, and being able to go back to times I've forgotten. For example, I can say "Oh, I wonder what I was doing on the 22nd March 2012?" and I would be able to go back, find it, and see that I went to see the Hunger Games, and I also went shopping! (true story.)
I think even though I really want to go into Graphic Design, in the back of my mind i've always wanted to be an author. Since I was really young, i've loved reading. I read a hell of a lot of books, or all genres! I also write quite a bit, on my laptop, I must have about 5 or 6 short stories that I have started to write, some of which I wrote 3 or 4 years ago!
(PS. Major cringe, but I also have two fanfictions I wrote, which quite a lot of people read! (one of them has around 10,000 reads, I think.. but shhh lets skip over that)

I mainly wrote this blog post to encourage anyone reading it to consider starting a diary, as It really is nice to write about your day, and you can write down everything. (trust me, there have been some depressing diary entries over the years!), and writing out your problems does make you feel better. I don't know how it works, but it does!
And if you, like me, already write a diary, don't be embarrassed! It's a great thing to do, and I completely encourage you to keep going, like I have over the past 5 years.
If you would like to speak to me in more detail about writing a diary, then feel free to email me at erindocherty3@gmail.com , or tweet me @youfounderin . I would love to hear from you.

DeleteLovely idea for a post! I always used to keep a diary but haven't for a good few years now - I kind of worry that I cant actually write what I want incase someone finds it and read it, do you ever feel like that?
ReplyDeleteYou've encouraged me to start again x
Sweet Dreams
Thank you! I definitely worry about that, as being in my family home, with 7 people, someone's bound to find it, but I just keep it tucked away, hidden from view! I'm glad i've encouraged you! x
