Memory Jar 2013
January 03, 2014First of all, it's officially 2014, so HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!
Some of you may know this, but some of you may be unaware, in 2013, I kept a "Memory Jar". I did a post about this back in July last year (which you can find here), but basically I found the idea on Twitter at the end of 2012, and the aim was to put in any good things that happen, or any memories that have been created also go into this jar, and at the end of the year, or in my case, at the start of the new year, I was to open them all up, and see what god things happened last year.
I have to say this was an excellent way to make me feel very happy super quickly. As I opened up the little white sheets of paper, my smile just got bigger and bigger, as I read through all the little memories that were created in 2013. They weren't spectacular memories, like I went sky-diving round the Sahara desert, but they were nice little memories for myself to read, and reflect on.
It's quite a personal thing, I think, but i'm going to share with you some of the little scraps of paper, that held some memories.
20/11/13 - "Got my braces off!" Anyone who's ever had braced (train tracks), will know exactly how big a deal it is to finally get them off! |
30/10/13 "Got an email from the Commonwealth Games saying my interview was successful. Woop!" As many of you may know, the Commonwealth Games is being held in my hometown, Glasgow, next year. I applied t be a volunteer, and out of 50,000, i'm one of the 15,000 to be chosen to volunteer at the games this summer. Exciting! (I actually wrote a blog post about it, find it here) |
4/12/13 - "Mr Brown (head teacher) saying my painting was 'amazing' and 'so realistic' aw:)" For me, this was a big deal, as I had put so much work into it (find a blog post about it here) and for the head teacher of my school to say that to me, made me so happy! |
So that's a few of the things I opened from the memory jar, I hope you enjoyed this post. Did any of you do this memory jar thing? Or is anyone doing it this year? Let me know!
